That made enough sense, but even so, whether the military approved of it or not, it was their duty to keep everything that could possibly cause any disorder in check. Marko knew that quite well; the hierarchy of the Ruthiens did like to remind themselves rather often of their most troubling blockade between themselves and the government. He shook his head in affirmation of what Lili had said, regardless… She probably didn’t know it, but that was actually a useful thing for him to have in mind. “I see. Seems about right, the military keeping everything under wraps.”
He caught sight of Lili’s chaperone looking about the vicinity for a moment, and decided that perhaps that wasn’t the best thing to say, especially not right now. A frown crossed his face, and he coughed. “Er, not to say they’re not, y’know, just doing their job, or anything.”

Lili nodded hesitantly. "Ja... I... I suppose so. It's just that... well... i-if word gets to his superiors..." She lowered her gaze, focusing on the floor in front of her feet, falling silent. If word got to his superiors, or even his equals, official inquiries would have to be made. It would be very likely that he'd be dismissed, and publicly humiliated, which would in turn bring shame to his family. She couldn't say such words out loud, though... saying them might make them come true.
"I... I just hope that he... that someone can convince him to become more cautious..." There, that wasn't anything bad to say, right? It was a wish for well-being. Nothing harmful could come from such a wish, after all.
Sarah glanced at Marko for a moment, before glancing pointedly away. She'd caught his first statement, and whatever he'd meant it to mean, it hinted at underlying unhappiness with the institution. She supposed she couldn't blame him entirely... a lot of people weren't happy with it - but that didn't mean that Sarah had to continue to let Lili associate with people like that. She'd let it be for the moment, but if anything else seemed off, she'd be certain to suggest to Lili that they leave and find others to mingle with.

His eyes fell back on Sarah for a second, and then they returned to Lili. Unsure of what to say, exactly, he gave a light shrug, and was thankfully prevented from speaking again by a voice on the other side of the gallery; one of the museum's staff politely quieting the chattering nobles and ushering them into an adjacent room. Marko stared over his shoulder in the direction of the open doors for a good long while, not forgetting the task that was at the front of his mind... The Admiral was, of course, in that crowd - somewhere... He needed to keep his eyes better peeled better than they were, at the moment.
