Beta: Horses would probably be the best way for them to be friends. Maybe they met while actually riding or something. We could probably do a thread at a stable or out riding. or possibly a past thread of when they met.

I'm pretty fond of the idea of a past thread of when they met; probably either before Erzsébet joined the army, or even in the first year she joined (since she was undecided about whether to become part of the cavalry or not).
That would mean that the past!thread would be set seven or eight years prior to present day, but if something later than that would be easier for you, I'm fine with that as well!
And what if they met while riding, just out on a stroll, and randomly crossed paths with each other and started chatting/possibly even starting an impromptu race back to the stables and just hit it off from there? Would that be alright?

I really should make a timeline of Feliks life for my own reference.
I think somewhere in the 5-6 year range would work better for me, but the overall idea/plot is perfect.
Do you want to start or shall I?
