It was a usual boring day for one Lovino Vargas. Once again he'd been assigned to tail some guy and wasn't told the reason why, just that he needed to report his comings and goings and if he did anything suspicious. And as usual he had seen a fat load of nothing. He'd followed him to his business in the trade district this morning and now he was following back home.He imagined if he were to ever tell anyone he was a spy they wouldn't expect that he spent most of his time doing this.
He was so used to this nonsense he was pretty much doing it on auto-pilot, lost in his thoughts. As he walked along he vaguely noticed his target had turned at the street up ahead so he followed, but as he turned the corner he felt himself bump into something, sending them both sprawling onto the ground with flowers flying up around them.
Frowning he opened his mouth to snarl at whoever he had bumped into, but then he noticed it was a pretty foreign-looking lady and immediately shut it again. He picked himself up, starting to pick up some of the flowers their collision had scattered. As he picked them up he paused to look at her again, smiling a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, I didn't see you there."

Mei started her day as usual; she'd gotten up, ate breakfast, tended to her gardens and greenhouse at home, and gone to work.
What wasn't usual about today was the fact that, rather than staying in the shop all day, she planned to - nay, had to - travel with an armload and a half of flowers to the North Residential district, where one of her clients was having a party of some sort. They had asked her to come decorate, but couldn't give her any specific measurements or anything useful of the sort... so Mei gathered everything she thought she'd feasibly need, and closed the shop. She hoped that this wouldn't take too long... she could weave daisy chains in her sleep, and that was, ostensibly, all this would be.
She made it through the bus ride just fine, and was nearly to her destination - it was just around the corner, there, she thought, when she bumped hard into someone and fell back. "Oh!" She gasped, the flowers falling everywhere. Oh no! She hoped that not too many were bruised or broken... she'd really hate to have to go back to the shop now...
Huffing out an angry breath, ready to scold whoever hadn't been paying attention, Mei was taken aback as the boy apologized. Well... she couldn't exactly blame him... she hadn't seen him either. "Oh... no... it's okay. I wasn't expecting anyone to be around the corner either..." She laughed hesitantly, gathering flowers as quickly and carefully as she could. She didn't want anyone else to come around the corner and step on them. And to her relief, most of the flowers, it seemed, weren't damaged in the slightest.

Lovino nodded as he heard her speak, focusing on gathering the rest of the flowers from the ground before standing back up, holding the ones he had in his arms. Subtly he glanced around the corner and saw the guy he was following was already gone, but he couldn't bring himself to really care that much. Most likely that guy had just gotten home as usual, though he'd check on that later.
Looking back to Mei he smiled a bit more charmingly. "I really must apologize bella, I should have been paying better attention to where I was going." He still was bit embarrassed having shown a bit of his clumsy side to such a pretty girl so his cheeks were still tinged a bit red, but he was getting over it pretty quickly. Shifting the flowers in his arms he looked at them and then back at her. "Pretty flowers for a pretty girl~ But where're you going with so many? That many suitors for your heart?"

Mei gathered all that were in her reach, then shifted to stand. Only a handful would have to be discarded for bruising... a few less were broken - but she could clip the stems and offer them to her client to use as favors. Her shears... where had her shears gone to? Oh... how had they managed to get quite so far away?
Carefully, she rose, brushing her skirt off with her free hand. Her every intention was to apologize for bumping into him again, gather the flowers, fetch her shears, and continue on her way. "No, no... I'm as much at fault as you." But then he spoke about the flowers. Her cheeks flushed faintly pink as he complimented her, and she tucked her chin slightly to try to hide it. "No, nothing like that... I... I was on my way to decorate a client's house for some party or other. They wanted garlands of daisies, but never did tell me how long to make them." She couldn't help the slight tinge of annoyance that slipped into her voice at the end, but it was gone as soon as it came. "I've just never been to the house before. They usually pick up their purchases."
She paused, then blushed again. "And here I am, telling you all about my task when I haven't given you my name." She shook her head at herself, then smiled up at him. "I'm Mei... Mei Xiao."

Lovino kept up his charming smile as he listened to her story, his smile turning a bit more genuine as he tried not to snicker at her annoyance at whatever noble she was speaking of. From how she spoke of them he had a few guesses as to which family she could be talking about, and if any of his guesses were right, she must have the patience of a saint to deal with some of those clients. He knew the type, the kind that expected 110% out of you and for you to be perfect every time and to magically know exactly what they were thinking. He'd had to deal with a few of those and he'd hated every minute of it.
When she introduced herself his smile softened, making sure he wasn't about to drop the flowers he was holding and replying, "I'm Lovino, Lovino Vargas. It's a pleasure to meet you Mei, though I'm sorry again it had to be like this. Would you let me make it up to you by helping you carry these flowers to your destination? It's the least I could do for such a belladonna~."

"It's nice to meet you as well, Lovino, though the circumstances were a little shaky." She laughed lightly, then paused at his offer to assist her. Well... it would mean that she'd have an arm free, for the moment, to knock on the door or fend off any other wayward corner-turners... It would also mean that she would get to know this Lovino a little better. And if Mei was anything besides a florist, she was a people person.
So she found herself nodding before she could really even process the last statement... one which caused her cheeks to darken slightly in another blush. Aiya, she'd have to stop this before he noticed. "If you insist. It isn't much farther..." She gestured up the street a bit. "It's the next corner, and then the third house on the right..." A house he'd recognize to be his target's. "You know... if you've a bit more time to spare than just helping me get the flowers there... I'm sure they wouldn't blink an eye at my assistant staying. Oftentimes, if they're pleased with the arrangement, they'll offer refreshment..." Not that she was expecting him to say yes. He surely had a life to go about living. She just felt like perhaps she should offer.
While she waited on his response, she stepped to pick up her shears, then tucked them back into the small basket she carried on her arm. Twine, shears, white ribbon, more twine, and scissors for the ribbon. Seemed like everything was in order...
