Here is a quick look at the differing factions in the city of Granor:
- The Draconians: Government officials who are in charge of running the city in a logical and rigid manner. Their strict rules are meant to keep citizens of Granor safe and happy, though sometimes, even they disagree with the edicts set out by their Leader. They are one step higher than a noble, yet still work hard for their living, and tend to enjoy lavish parties.
- The Ruthians: They are the opposite of the Draconians in nearly every sense. They are not often nobles, tend to work best during dysfunction and chaos, and seek to expose the Leader for what they believe that he or she is – a dictator out only for him- or herself. They are an underground organization of rebels intent upon seeing Granor into a better future.
- The Nobles: Those who have been born into their riches, or those that inherited them from a wealthy relative. These are the government supporters – they do not wish to have their privileges taken away from them. Like the Draconians, they enjoy lavish parties, and throw them at every possible occasion. Some may attempt to help out the Granorian poor, others are just living for themselves.
- The Pirates: Unlike pirates of olden-times, these have ships that are both air- and sea-worthy. Their main stronghold is the Isles off to the Northwest of Granor, where none but they may enter. They do oftentimes come to Granor to steal what riches they can, though they are not averse to attacking the outlying communities as well. Perhaps the most notable thing about them is their uncanny ability to play double agent - they will often buy and sell information if the price is right.
- The Military: A stand-alone entity ruled by the government. Some of the higher ranked officials are not always pleased with what they’re made to do. However, they don’t act out for fear of being replaced by someone that will follow orders unfailingly. They enforce the laws that the Draconians, Lawmakers, and the Leader have passed.
- The Inventors: Besides being a port town, Granor is famous for its inventors. They are at the forefront of the movement for the city’s recent industrialization. However, they’re also known for being a bit kooky and unpredictable. Some support the Draconians, others support the Ruthians, and still others just wish to be left alone with their genius.
- The Lawmakers: A close-knit circle of five Draconians. These five are the Leader's closest advisers, and the only five in all Granor to know the Leader's identity. Their identities are known, making them an easier target for the Ruthians.
- The Leader: The dictator of all Granor. Very little is known about this person, including name, gender, and age. He or she must agree with all laws passed by the Lawmakers - and can, if need be, pass laws without speaking to the Lawmakers.
