° P-ersonality || To the majority that know little to nothing of him, Kiku Honda feels as untrustworthy as the midnight sky, hiding everything. The mannerisms he picked up from his time of nobility can be seen from his solemn, professional and unemotional stance to those he are unacquainted to. Being accepting and understanding to most things, he comes off as being 'easy'. However, being such an easy friend in return gives Kiku the luxury of having a strict wall between himself and others, so he thinks.
A realist at heart, his view of the world is a lonely one. He understands that not many have the same views as he, so he tends to keep his own personal opinions out of conversations and rarely speaks up about them from himself. Kiku feels that there will never be a 'place' where he will belong as a person. He travels around from one place to another enjoying foreign culture as long as there is the smell of grease and steel. Veiled behind a glass curtain of half-truths he doesn't like his time wasted, but doesn't mind taking the extra step for others..if necessary. The only definite known fact about him is his gift of handling machinery which buys the trust of many to their boats and weaponry, but hardly do they ever try to associate with the quiet man himself. Which is kind of what Kiku strives for, not able to be very good at socialization to begin with.
But now and then, Kiku will get utterly bored and decide to pull pranks on others. For this, his curiosity often gets the better of him. His careful personality has a few unsuspecting holes to make it easy for others to grab onto him, if they have the eye to see it.
Due to his past, he had an abundant amount of knowledge about both the Ruthian and Military and uses it to stay as far away as he can. He has an unspoken admiration for pirates and their romantic life in the skies onboard what he believes are the most beautiful creations man ever made. Which is why he works as a freelance mechanic though being one of the best in Atheros, and by rumor better then the Captain of Mechanics in the Military.
To the select few he actually has some form of affection to, Kiku can be very different, often kinder and more compassionate. He has no need to be professional around them, so he reveals more of his laziness and faults, having a eased and soft spot for those who had managed to weasel their way into his iced mind-frame of living a solitary life.
Kiku has the sight, but he prefers not to reveal that he does. Being superstitious, he believes that they reside on Atheros for a reason unassociated to themselves, and therefore shouldn't be touched or bothered with.

° H-istory ||
Kiku is the sole heir of a noble family raised in the outskirts of Sentaph in a large estate at the foot of the forest. His family was known for given the Military vast amounts of money, mostly for their electricity. As a child he loved dealing with mechanics and slipped out of his lessons to the docks of his estate to watch their mechanic tend to his fathers ship. Watching the magnificent ship soar across the sky gave him the dream to one day have a ship of his own and tend to it for the rest of his life. He was well-informed of the know hows of the Military (having been expected to join it someday), as well as the existence of Ruthians and Pirates. As a child, his dream was to be the mechanic of a pirate ship, and soar the endless skies, free to do as he pleased.
The end of his content life came to a ear-splitting screech when mercenaries hired by the Ruthian invaded his family's estate and murdered all but himself. Kiku was 12. He was saved by his mother, who kissed his damp cheeks, and hushed him into a escape route to the forest and was told to "Trust only himself." The words still ring in his ears to this day, fueling his feeling of being obligated to lead a solitary life. He lived in the forest for a while, afraid of the mythical beasts he had heard about, but saw nothing, not having been born with Sight. Having no food or drink, his young body soon grew weak and soon found himself unable to move.
Feeling that his end was nearing, Kiku found himself nudged by a black crested dragon who bargained to save his life in replace for having the ability of Sight. "You have the deep eyes of the midnight ocean." The dragon told him. "The eyes that swallow truth and lie, intermingle them, and accept only reality. Take this curse, and see the truth in the world." When he opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by magical folk, and the blind dragon before him beat his wings and flew into the night sky. He was guided out of the forest where he was caught by the Ruthians who wanted his family dead and knew they had a son. He was taken back with them in hopes that he would become a Ruthian, and able to become a military official because of his rank and nobility.
With the Ruthians Kiku learned the trade of Blacksmith and Mechanic. Being useless in the tactics of fighting at first, he had to learn how to wield a dagger from the streets but did not take long to become an expert at throwing knives from the persistence to practice hammered into him from a young age. He then moved to a flintlock pistol At the age of entering adulthood, he had also become an arms dealer and also held a side job of upgrading weapons, mainly firearms, as a hobby aside from his main trade as a Mechanic. It was then, when he was ordered to join the Military to gather their information. Kiku refused, not wanting to be near anything that reminded him so sorely of his dead parents and family.
It was purely by accident that he found out the truth behind the death of his parents from his friend who had told him about a noble family in Sentaph being wiped out by Ruthians. Vengeance filled his mind, but along with it came defeat, knowing that he would never be able to have revenge by killing off every last Ruthian. He had no desire to be in the Military either. Kiku waited two years before he disappeared from the Ruthians, to live life as a neutral civilian....but not before killing off each and every Ruthian who had been involved in the act of killing his family. His choice turned him into a Nomad, unable to have a place to belong to.
Floating here and there through the years, fixing ships and making illegal upgraded firearms for the rich and rebellious, Kiku found himself in Methre befriending a young Dutch man and seeking a beautiful ship rumored to be manned by a ruthless pirate. His life was reduced to a quiet one, often fixing things other then ships for the normal civilian and found himself often in lower-class schools and other places, public, but neglected.

He still felt it, the pain in his chest from flickers of red as his home burned to the ground. Small bare feet made their way through damp grounds deeper and deeper into the forest, father and farther away. Warmth from steel scales on his palms, the soft smile of his mother. He could no longer remember what kind of voice she had, only how her lips curved into a gentle curve.
"Trust no one." Opening his eyes, the man murmured in the cold room, raising his hand to the moon and watching it reflect through his pale oil-coated fingers onto his face. Obsidian eyes flickered to the disassembled flintlock pistol on the lacquered table to his side, and a few pixies playing with a small crank he had left on the table. Kiku watched them as they noticed his gaze and flew over to him and around his face, giggling as they landed on his cheeks and stared into his blank gaze. He closed his eyes again, ignoring them as they played with his hair.
A month since he had come back to Methre. Nothing had changed to his relief, and he had promised to visit one of the public schools in the lower parts of the town to fix their boiler. The summer night breeze made the shirt cling to his skin with sweat, making the fabric seem heavier with every breath he took. Time was passing slowly, like the moon over him. Soon, it would be morning. This life he chose for himself though limited was better then the life he had left years ago though it left him feeling empty.
A large shadow covered his room and Kiku opened his eyes at the sudden darkness, seeing a ship hover across the sky. <A pirate ship...?> He thought, wondering why it was flying so close to the town and strained to find the name carved onto her delicate frame. It seemed like a rather small ship in size, but elegant in design..certainly not a merchant's ship, Kiku thought. They cared not for looks but only for sturdiness. That was fine too..but it seemed like Pirates were the only ones who held beautiful ships these days, the only ones who cared for what they were truly riding on. "Perhaps I will fix that ship someday." Kiku said to the pixies in his hair. Hearing a whispered giggle back, he smiled and closed his eyes.
