It’s basically his favorite outfit now… He also has a panda with him, named Ning-Wei. It’s his best friend since he found it as a baby a few years back. It’s as tame as a house dog and carries his goods when traveling. When it’s not filled with stuff, he’ll ride it himself. And it makes a great bed.

° P-ersonality ||
Yao is a stubborn, hotheaded and slightly greedy young man. He also looks feminine, which has had several men try to hit on him. They’ve gotten a violent response, all of them. But he still refuses to cut his hair and dress more macho, as he’s comfortable with his appearance.
Even though he might be smaller and shorter than other men around, he knows how to take care of himself and defend himself if needed. Anything is totally a weapon, be it a ladle, wok or chopsticks.
He’s very caring towards those that get close enough to him. The only ones he's shown this side to, have been his mother and Ning-Wei.
The best thing he knows, except earning money on the black market, is cooking.
Yao takes pride in it too, and loves food. He's a glutton, but you wouldn’t think so when you look at him, with his small frame.
He’s kind of a prude and thinks public displays of affection is dirty and shameless, so he always rolls eyes at the young couples he sees sometimes when working. In his mind, that stuff should remain in the private area of the bedroom.
He doesn’t really believe in love either, but he blames his parents for that. They were so in love, but still broke apart.
Basically he’s a grumpy old fart in a young body.

° H-istory ||
He was born into a nice, normal family. His father took care of his little family, working while the mother and little Yao stayed at home. It was a happy few years before the little boy started noticing a cold front appearing between his parents. At first he thought it’d go over, but they started arguing. He didn’t like that at all. Fortunately it never got violent, just shouting while Yao was in another room.
Yao’s mother left his father when he was 8. The love between them was tearing apart, so they saw no other way than to part from each other. She took Yao with her, not bearing the thought of being away from her son. They settled in a town a few miles away where she made sure to give him a proper childhood, even with the absent father. He never even sent a birthday card, so he has given up on believing his father wanted to get back in touch…
His Mom found a job and made sure that Yao got everything he needed of food, shelter and clothes.
When he was 15, he packed a few things and left to see the world and make it on his own. He quickly discovered that he could sell stuff. But he needed stuff to sell….
It all started with him finding this pretty necklace in a nice lady’s purse…. He snagged it and sold it a couple of days later in another city. It gave him enough to last a week with food and shelter and he got a kick out of stealing the item.
After this, he’s become quite the skilled thief and always sells the items somewhere else from where he’s taken them. Yao has yet to be caught for this.
It didn't take long before he started thinking the Military isn't exactly what they should be. He trusts no one, but he's never been a big fan of the Military. At the age of 21 he joined the Ruthians, at least taking a side in everything, not wanting the Military to be in complete control.
His job as a merchant made it easy to travel around without really making much fuss about himself. The first time he kept quiet and went on with his work, travelling and selling things, before he became a White Shadow. Yao was always one to trust to never tell anyone about anything, he kept his mouth shut about whatever he had to shut up about, minding his own business.
The man is still not sure why he became a White Shadow, but gaining trust and respect were two obvious reasons. Quite honestly, he's not sure he really cares. But after this, things changed. Some people seem to know who he is now, which led Yao to avoid some places just in case he'll be recognized.
At 27 he met Ning-Mei as a panda cub. The poor male had lost his mother and was all alone, hungry and lonely. Yao felt sorry for him and just took him with him, feeding and taking care of him. Ning-Wei is both Yao's best friend and loyal body guard.

It had been another successful day at work. Yao smiled and looked at Ning-Wei, his panda buddy. “We’ve done well today, Wei-Wei.” He said, patting his friend across the neck. The panda just whined a little, but was happy. They had earned enough to last for another week, so they could take time off from stealing stuff to sell. Maybe now they could buy something and keep it!
Yao had noticed a rip in his cheong-sam, so it was soon time to either fix it or get a new one.
“Let’s pack up and get going.” Yao told the panda, who got up and let his friend climb up on his back after packing their things together. It was time to travel again, to the next town or wherever they wanted to go next. That was the fun about travelling this way, they never knew where they’d end up after a while.
After about half a day, they reached a smaller town. The night was coming so Yao decided they should get some sleep. He wasn’t gonna steal or sell anything in this town. In fact, he would even take a couple of days off, thanks to the nice sales they had today. He found an abandoned little cabin and got off Ning-Wei, leading the panda inside. Ning-Wei yawned and found a comfortable spot in a corner, near the bed that Yao climbed up in after taking off some of his clothes. They were both so, so tired after a long day…
But first it was time for food! Yao picked out a wooden box from the backpack and put it down in front of Ning-Wei. It had bamboo and meat that the panda happily ate. Yao himself found some dumplings he’d prepared earlier. They were delicious as always. He knew he was a good cook and never ate at any restaurants.
Ning-Wei looked at him. The panda had finished his food first and was now eyeing Yao’s meal.
“….Forget it, Wei-Wei.” Yao said, not even looking at his buddy. Obviously he knew him too well… Ning-Wei gave out a small whine, but he wasn’t really hungry. The dumplings just tasted amazing, but he knew they were Yao’s. Sometimes he just had to try, but Yao never gave in.
Finally, Yao yawned. Supper was over and it was bedtime. “G’night, Wei-Wei.” He muttered before curling up in the worn out bed. His panda yawned as well and went to sleep.
