Matthew's arms have some scars on them. He can't remember how or when he got them, all he knows is that they're there, and he usually hides them from others. Other than that, there's a strand of hair that dangles infront of him, finding it's base where the boy's hair parts. It curls up at the end. For those who don't always pass him by without a second glance recognize him by that, eventually.
° A-dditional features ||
Matthew is best described as your average guy, with his shy attitude and plain looks. Despite that, he is pretty strong and could handle himself well if he had to. Just because he doesn't have much muscle to show it, it doesn't mean he's weak. Matthew however dislikes conflict. Clothing-wise, he tried to dress as nicely as he possibly can, while having it all be comfortable. This still makes him pretty plain for the eye to see and he blends in just fine with the crowd.

Jobs bring in money, and money means being able to support one self. Matthew took up on this job for the simple reason that, quit frankly, he was in need of one. While he aims to do more than this, he simply can't afford moving on yet. He wishes to some day join the military to keep up a honest living, but for now he is content with doing what he does.

° P-ersonality ||
To start of with some basics, it is easy to narrow Matthew's general behavior down to a few keypoints; Shy, quiet, nice and unnoticeable.
He's a shy guy with a big heart, who can not for the life of him get into the spotlight, ever. Not by himself at least. Matthew is the kind of guy you would be describing as a typical nice-guy, without the whole 'trying to hard for relationships' part that's usually attached to it. Matthew was always pretty quiet as a kid, not sure on how he could approach others without doing anything wrong. He was, and still is, pretty scared of saying the wrong things and setting someone off because of it. He's careful in his wording and takes the longest time to consider his next move when it comes to social interactions.
Another thing that Matthew remembers from his childhood, that is still in play today, is his brother who has always played a big part in his life. He cares for his brother of course, but often finds himself in the other his shadow. Alfred was the louder of the two after all, far more outgoing than Matthew himself was or ever could hope to be. He always tagged along and rarely managed to get the attention away from his brother. Matthew had made peace with that a long time ago, and didn't try to step out of that shadow any more than he had to. He resented being in it as much as he found comfort in being stuck there. In that sense one might find Matthew either lazy or a coward, and perhaps both are true. It isn't like Matthew doesn't try to be his own man, but being the invisible man to most everyone is rather discouraging.
Being ignored or not noticed is yet another thing that Matthew has grown used to in his life. Matthew posses as much good as bad qualities, yet he's still the average guy who blends with a crowd. This could be very useful in many different ways, ways that sadly don't always apply to his every day life. He's easily passed by and it's not uncommon for people to notice his presence pretty late. Yes, it hurts him a lot. But Matthew remains as optimistic as he can be and carries a smile where ever he goes. He believes that his negative feelings are more or less a burden that's only for himself to bear. He wants others to see him as a friendly guy, who's easy-going and easy to talk to when you take the chance. Judging people for not noticing him is something Matthew doesn't do. He is quicker to blame himself on that matter and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Matthew is a bit socially awkward as well. He's never sure on how to respond to the attention he receives yet with everything, he meets the situation with a smile, afraid he'd set people off if he doesn't. He is a great listener really, ready to help anyone who needs it, as long as it's for a good purpose. Matthew might stick to himself a lot, he is not afraid to reach out to others.
And of course there's things people never get to know of. While he does carry a smile and tries to be as positive as possible, Matthew has a pretty negative outlook on life. He always worries about pretty much everything. Will people like him? Will people want to pay attention to him? Do they ignore him on purpose? Does everyone prefer his brother? Is he being nice enough? Questions such as these race trough his mind on a daily basis, driving the poor boy into a bit of a depression. When he's alone he can let his negative emotions get the best of him. He's often sad, hurt or angry. He would be far better of with letting these things be known, and he knows that. Just try to do that when you have little self-esteem and are easily overshadowed when you do try. Yet whoever pushes him far to much, is sure to know they did one way or another. That also brings us to this, Matthew's emotions carry a lot of imagination with them. Sometimes that makes everything far worse than the actual situation was.
Matthew keeps to himself a lot believing he is better of that way most of the time. He developed a habit of talking to himself, sometimes in public. He has been his own best company for a long time. He is also in possession of a stuffed polar bear which he nicknamed Kumajirou. Matthew sometimes carries it around, being able to get a great deal of strength out of the inanimate object. Kumajirou is special to him, and probably one of the few outlets the boy has. He knows the stuffed animal is nothing more than just that, yet talking to it, and having the feeling it listens is a great relief. As mentioned before, Matthew is socially awkward, not used to interact with people other than his brother, who proved himself to be terrible company when he's needed. Or so it is in Matthew's honest opinion. So to keep himself from breaking down under stress, he has that bear. It's a well-kept secret mind you, and next to no one seems aware of his feelings. All they see, when they notice him at all, is that smiling and shy boy

° H-istory ||
Matthew has had a pretty okay life while growing up. He was born in Granor city, into a admittedly shaky household. One of the things Matthew can still recall from those early 3 or 4 years was the fighting his parents did. Not a lot and not all the time, but bad enough and frequent enough for the young blonde to remember these days. Despite that Matthew himself was never a victim of these arguments, until one day his mother left him and his father behind in their house. Being too young to understand, Matthew had for the longest time believed she would return, but she never did. And while this might have been a bad experience for most, Matthew never really found himself caring. He had his father who was a wonderful man and took great care of the kid. It was when Matthew was 5 when a strange woman started to visit the household more often. At first it was just for a few days in every month, but her visits grew and before Matthew realized it, she was living with them as the new lover of his father. And she wasn't alone either. Matthew found himself in the presence of another boy, the only one from the family that he still keeps in contact with.
Having been a only child, Matthew had some trouble adjusting to Alfred. He always thought of him as too loud and too energetic. Things he still thinks are in play now, but long since forgotten and gotten used to. Matthew grew fond of his new brother over time, and rarely ever left his side if he could help it. He was happy for those few years, that was until things went downhill. The family was slipping into financial problems and soon enough wouldn't have a leg to stand on anymore. Matthew's memory is a little foggy on this part, not wanting to remember how things went during that time. He couldn't remember even if he wanted to. It all ended with him working for a year or so, and then packing his bags to leave.
Matthew had basically ran away from home, not wanting to be with the once so loving family he had used to know. Things had turned to shit and he was painfully aware of it. That's when he ended up in Juesta City. He was old enough to find a job, which was exactly what he did. For the longest time, he hoped from job to job before he got where he was now, making musix boxes. When he started, Matthew always found it to be a bit of a odd job, but the pay was good and the owner was nice. The shop felt like a second home to Matthew.
Now Matthew still works there, making plans to travel a bit and work on his skills. He would love to be able to land himself a job in the military, at some point.

° R-oleplay example ||
It was the middle of December, one of the colder months each year had to offer the world. A month, that had grown even colder and harsher over the passing years. The white powder rained down upon the earth heavily on this particular morning, covering any tracks that had been made mere moments again. The snow had piled up thick, crunching loudly under the boots and tires of whoever passed over it. The cold substance looked about ready to swallow anyone whole who had dared to be foolish enough to go outside. It was indeed a harsh winter that was not enjoyable for anyone at this point. Whoever could, would make sure they stayed inside. The lights that peeked out trough the windows of the few houses around this area got drowned out by the massive snowfall, making the world a stark contrast between the darkness on the sky above, and the white of the pure snow down bellow.
When viewed from inside, this was a beautiful scene to behold. They did not have to face up to these conditions, which of course made it all the more enjoyable. There weren't many people unlucky enough to be called outside, and to those who where we could only say ”Good luck.”
In one of the few houses gathered in this area, the lights where dimmed. The only source of light, and most of the heat, was a fire place that shone brightly, casting a golden hue over the many items in the room. A small polar bear lay curled up in what was originally a dog basket. It's paw was bandaged up and a few chunks of ice stuck to its white fur. The poor thing had been suddenly turned up in the middle of this storm. Alone and hurt. Matthew was the one that had spotted him, and that brought him into his house, patching the animal up. Many questions had come up but of course the Canadian had no idea on how to answer any of them.
Said man was sitting on a couch not to far away from the creature of the fire place. He held a mug of tea in one hand, and a letter in the other. His violet eyes kept going over the words in front of him, as if he was trying to find a hidden meaning in them. Matthew had sat like that for a while, every so often taking a careful sip of his tea. There was no escaping it, was there?
Turning his attention to the window he could not help but sigh a little, his expression anything but cheerful. He had received a letter some time ago, one of request from someone Matthew did not dare to call a friend. (He barely knew the man who pleaded for his help if he had to be honest.) The request it self was not one that required immediate attention, which was why Matthew had been putting it of, but tonight was the night the letter spoke of and asked for a meet-up with the Canadian. His help was needed, for whatever research it was this man had set out on doing, and with this weather Matthew did not have the heart to not show up and keep the other waiting.
If anything he should be happy he was thought of at all right now, shouldn't he?
Putting the letter in his pocket and his mug away, he got up, stretching himself a little after he did. He walked over to the small bear, bending down to pet the animal gently. “I'm sorry I have to leave you alone so soon Kumajirou,” Matthew whispered, noticing the polar bear had gone to sleep. “I promise you I will be back soon.” a gentle smile had appeared on his face, brightening his otherwise sad features. There was indeed no escaping it now. Reluctantly, Matthew moved into the hallway of his house, struggling to get his boots on and wrap himself up in many layers of clothing, ready to face the cold weather that loomed outside. His gloved hand reached into his pocket, holding the letter tightly. It would be unreadable one outside, Matthew realized, yet he felt so much more secure knowing he had the meeting place written down with him. Taking in a deep breath, he glanced back to the living room before turning back to the front door, pulling it open so he could step outside, ready to go meet the other.
