[The Leader]

-What is Steampunk?

-What is Atheros?

Atheros is the name of our world. The main body of roleplay will take place in Granor, one of the biggest cities on Atheros. There are other nations, islands, cities, etc; more information on those will come later.

-What is the currency?

Florins are our currency. A Florin is equal to one US dollar or .7 Euros. You do not have to be completely accurate with your conversions; just make your best educated guess.

-What about cultures/religion?

Granor is a port town so there have been many immigrants to the city and with them, many different cultures. A lot of those immigrants settled down and had children generations ago, so your characters may know a different language and be as culturally different as you wish. However, please don’t get too specific: this is meant to be an AU after all.

-How long ago was the Civil War/ Great Struggle?

It was about 75 years ago in this world. The older generations would likely remember it and some may even have been involved, but the younger generations would not have first-hand accounts. There is also no way that they could have fought.

-Magic/Magical Creatures?

There is no magic of any sort on Atheros. Science and ingenuity are the names of the game here. Of course, that doesn't mean that one could not, say, pay an inventor to create a clockwork gadget of whatever mythological creature that came to mind.

Miscellaneous:

-A staple of Granorian life is festivals. Even after the revolution they have kept their festivals and once every year the city will be blanketed in gold, celebrating the nation and its history. It is the one time of year that one can find most everyone in a happy mood, flowers being handed out and the crest of the city, a lion, found on most everything. Tourism picks up in the city at this time of year, with inns being full to the brim with travelers come to see the festival. The festival lasts 3 days with the height of the festival the evening of the third when fireworks are shot into the sky. A saying goes that if one makes a wish under the fireworks with a loved one, some time in the next year that wish would come true.

-Guilds are found in Granor as well, from merchant guilds to thieves' guilds and everything in between. They function much like Unions do, and offer a sense of camaraderie and belonging to their members. Each functions slightly differently than the others. If you would like to be the head of a guild, please ask a mod; we'll be happy to assist you with setting it up.

Announcements from the Leader (in Chronological Order):

- "My dear citizens, recently our beloved city has experienced a grave tragedy. Our very own opera house has been decimated and one of our esteemed members of society has been assassinated. I sympathize for the deep pain that you all must feel for this loss. Therefore I have determined for the safety of all citizens to establish a curfew of 20:00 - 6:00. This is only a temporary measure until we have eradicated all rebels threatening to destabilize our city and once this task has been accomplished we assure you that such measures will be lifted."

- "Our wonderful and prosperous city is flourishing, but we must remain vigilant against those who dare threaten our security! If anyone sees or hears about any terrorist activities it is your civic duty to report it to the police. Not doing so is the same as aiding the terrorists and anyone found aiding terrorists will be prosecuted accordingly."
